For art’s sake: Our pick of the week
Private Eye cartoonist Andrew Birch, who recently joined the Professional Cartoonists’ Organisation which runs the Bloghorn, neatly sums up the age-old “Cartoons vs. Art” debate in his new Young British Artists strip. It’s a pitilessly satirical view of the Art Establishment … and Bloghorn could not agree more.

Shrewsbury International Cartoon Festival 2010
The main exhibition at this year’s event – ‘‘I Don’t Believe It’’ – explores the festival theme of Magic, Myth and Mystery. We are going to be previewing a little of the original content for this show before the festival opens on April 22nd.
Other exhibitions will be unveiled by visiting cartoonists from Greece and Australia, and Grizelda Grislingham of The Independent will be having a one-woman show. The S-mile exhibition will be back to run across the town and there will be digital cartoon displays in some surprising locations.
The Shrewsbury Cartoon Festival is co-organised by Shropshire Council, Shrewsbury Civic Society and the Professional Cartoonists Organisation.
Come along and enjoy this unique annual celebration of UK and International cartoon art and look out for more Bloghorn updates ahead of the weekend.
